Meet Our Staff: Our Team

Frieda Hollway

Preschool Director

It's a privilege to lead the wonderful staff here at Risen Christ!

My career began in the Webster Central School District, where I taught in the elementary grades for nearly 10 years. I took some time to stay home with my three young children. They all attended Risen Christ as preschoolers, making the decision to teach here easy. It is such a warm, loving environment filled with God's presence.  After teaching at RCP for 5 years, I was honored to accept the position of Director.  Now, I not only have the chance to care for the children in our program, but also for the wonderful families and amazing teachers.  I rely on God's guidance and grace to lead our preschool.

Jessi Metzger

Lead Teacher, Kindergarten Bridge

I am so excited to work at Risen Christ! All three of my children have gone through the preschool program here and we find the level of love and learning is unmatched! We have loved our time here!

I received my Bachelor’s in Special, Early and Elementary education from Eastern University and my Master's in Special Education from Roberts Wesleyan. I’m originally from New Jersey but have been a happy transplant to Victor since 2014! Before taking time off to stay home with my children, I taught preschool for two years. I am happy to be back in the preschool classroom!

Sara Reczek

Assistant Teacher, Kindergarten Bridge

The experience of working in the Risen Christ Preschool is a truly blessed and exciting one! Each year, we get to work with some of the best people on the planet - our loving, energetic, creative and talented staff, the parents who have entrusted their children's early educational years to us, and of course, amazing kids ages 2-5. We love kids here, and we sincerely believe that since God loves children and sets the tone for us, He also handpicks who lands here. I am so happy to have been a part of the Risen Christ Staff since 2007 as Family Life Minister until 2017, as part of the Wacky Wednesday threes' team in the past, as a fours' assistant for multiple years in numerous classrooms, and now in our Kindergarten Bridge class as we continue with new adventures! When I am not in the classroom, I switch hats and become the brick lady, working with kids on our enrichment team after school, and running summer camps and year round programs, engaging children ages 3-12 with playful learning and creative fun using LEGO® bricks. :)

Lead Teacher, 4s

I believe that teaching at Risen Christ is a blessing from God. It is a wonderful place to learn and to grow in faith. One of my favorite quotes by Robert Frost is, "I am not a teacher, but an awakener." This quote speaks to me because children learn best when they are fully engaged. Being an active learner is so important during the preschool years. Playing, exploring, connecting, and creating in the classroom is important for little minds to blossom and grow. My husband and I have three children, Tommy, Mackenzie, and Madelyn and our sweet dog Lily. I have a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and a Master's degree in Literacy. In my spare time, I enjoy golfing, playing paddle tennis, scrap booking, and I love to spend time with my family at the lake.

Lead and Assistant Teacher, 4s

This year will be my third year working at Risen Christ Preschool, and I have enjoyed it immensely!

I was a nanny for 6.5 years for two children that were a part of the RCP community. They taught me a lot about the different developmental stages children go through. I can’t wait to learn from all of the children here and hopefully have an impact on their preschool experience.

Angela Tyo

Lead Teacher, 4s

My name is Angela Tyo and I am blessed beyond measure to be teaching at Risen Christ Preschool.  This preschool has always had a very special place in my heart with amazing teachers, staff, and families.  The love and dedication the children who pass through these doors receive is immeasurable.  I am a mom of 3 amazing kids and each of them has had a variety of amazing experiences here at Risen Christ.  I am looking forward to providing a similar experience for your children to thrive in a loving environment in which they will be embraced for their unique personalities while they learn and grow.

I have a big heart for children and am a teacher by trade.  Although I am returning to the profession after 10 years off, I have a decade of experience teaching in a multitude of settings ranging from preschool to grade 2.  Watching children explore and learn is a pure joy.  I love to meet children exactly where they are at and build them up even more as the year goes on.  My goal is to create a safe, loving space for children to feel free to be true to themselves, to take chances, to make mistakes, to care for others, to laugh, learn, and grow at their own pace.  Every year is a new adventure filled with amazing possibilities.  I can’t wait to start making sweet memories with my students!

Jill Everly

Lead Teacher, 3s

Hello! My name is Jill Everly and I am so excited to be a part of the Risen Christ Preschool team. I love working with children, helping them to create, learn and grow. Nothing is more amazing than watching the spiritual, social and emotional growth of a child.

Kaleen Burns

Assistant Teacher, 3s

There is nothing I love more than working with our preschoolers at Risen Christ. I attended Genesee Community College and the New York Institute of Massage and earned my NYS license in massage therapy. My job for the past 20 years, though, has been as a full time stay at home mom. I was an active leader in the Fairport PTA for many years and a Scout Leader for Pack 273 for four years. I am thrilled that I get to work with little ones again! I get so much joy from creating engaging and creative experiences for children that I am always looking for new ideas – I am a Pinterest regular ☺! As a mom of four, I understand the value of giving children time to explore and experience the world around them in a safe, loving environment. Thank you for sharing your children with me. I am honored to teach them.

Susan Giancola

Assistant Teacher, 3s and 4s

Hello!  I have been an assistant teacher here for more than 15 years!  I have loved being a part of this school, developing relationships with families and being able to share God's love.

My husband and I have two grown children who attended Risen Christ Nursery School!  The friendships that we have all formed here have been a blessing and continue to thrive!

My degree is from RIT.  I worked in the packaging industry before having a family.  While raising my children, I co-directed our church's VBS program, taught Sunday School, and worked at Brooks Hill School.  I also worked as an independent contractor for Lifeline and LIfe Alert. In all of my working capacities, I have found that working with young children and their families is my passion.  I love providing a positive environment for every child.  My goal for each child is to help them develop friendships, encourage them to try new things, and to enjoy their time at preschool.  I also want to help them understand that God loves them!

I am thankful I get to play with and teach your children, smile all day long, and work with the best staff!

Jenn Same

Lead Teacher, 3s

Welcome to the 3s class! I am so excited to work at Risen Christ; it is a wonderful community of teachers, families and children!

I am a wife and mom of two boys, ages 19 and 17. I enjoy running with my dogs, gardening and decorating. I have always had such a special place in my heart for children and believe that the Lord lead me to my first teaching job 16 years ago in Raleigh, North Carolina. My life has been richly blessed by the children and families that have come into my classroom each year. I treasure having the opportunity to share God’s love with them each day.

It is my goal to create an environment in which the children feel safe, valued and loved. This enables them to thrive and learn. It is extremely important for me to build a relationship with each child so that he or she can grow academically, socially and emotionally. Our days will be filled with lots of hands on experiences to encourage a love of learning. This will include creative art, science experiments, music and movement, early math concepts, shapes, colors, a letter of the week, building language skills, sensory play, praying and Bible stories.

I am so thankful to have the opportunity to teach our children!

Assistant Teacher, 3s

Hi! I am honored to be a part of the incredible team here at Risen Christ. Your children are precious and important, and God’s love for them shines through every teacher here. This time in their lives is so special, and I am excited to watch them learn and grow throughout the year.

Three of my four children attended/attend Risen Christ and had such joyful experiences. I live in Honeoye Falls with my wonderful husband, our awesome kiddos, 16 chickens, and a dog named Macaroni. I enjoy running, exploring nature and all God’s creations, and I really love birds!

Shannon Hoyle

Lead Teacher, 2s
Assistant Teacher, 4s

Hello! My name is Shannon Hoyle, and I am excited to be part of the Risen Christ Preschool team. My career started in Boston, MA where I taught middle school special education for four years. I moved back to the Rochester area and worked in the Penfield Central School District as a teaching assistant for an additional four years.  I have spent the past few years at home to raise my two children, who both attended Risen Christ. I knew when it was time that I wanted to join this team. I love working with kids and watching them learn, create and grow throughout a school year!

This year I will be working with both the 2s and 4s.  I look forward to a wonderful school year!
