Meet Our Staff

Frieda Hollway
Preschool Director & Lead Teacher, 4s
It's a privilege to be a part of the wonderful staff here at Risen Christ! My teaching career began in the Webster Central School District, where I taught in the elementary grades for nearly 10 years. I took some time to stay home with my three young children. They all attended Risen Christ as preschoolers, making the decision to teach here easy. It is such a warm, loving environment filled with God's presence. As a teacher here, it is my goal to meet the academic, social and spiritual needs of my students in a safe, fun, enriching environment. I love watching our little ones grow and learn, with God at the center of their journey.
In September of 2022, I was honored to accept the position of Director at RCP. Now, I not only have the chance to care for the children in our program, but also for the wonderful families and amazing teachers. I rely on God's guidance and grace to lead our preschool.

I am so excited to work at Risen Christ this year! All three of my children have gone through the preschool program here and we find the level of love and learning is unmatched! We’ve loved our time here!
I received my bachelor’s in special, early and elementary education from Eastern University and my Masters in special education from Roberts Wesleyan. I’m originally from New Jersey but have been a happy transplant to Victor since 2014! Before taking time off to stay home with my children, I taught preschool for two years. I am so excited to be back in the preschool classroom this year!

I believe that teaching at Risen Christ is a blessing from God. It is a wonderful place to learn and to grow in faith. One of my favorite quotes by Robert Frost is, "I am not a teacher, but an awakener." This quote speaks to me because children learn best when they are fully engaged. Being an active learner is so important during the preschool years. Playing, exploring, connecting, and creating in the classroom is important for little minds to blossom and grow. My husband and I have three children, Tommy, Mackenzie, and Madelyn and our sweet dog Lily. I have a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and a Master's degree in Literacy. In my spare time, I enjoy golfing, playing paddle tennis, scrap booking, and I love to spend time with my family at the lake.

The experience of working in the Risen Christ Preschool is a truly blessed and exciting one! Each year, we get to work with some of the best people on the planet - our loving, energetic, creative and talented staff, the parents who have entrusted their children's early educational years to us, and of course, amazing kids ages 2-5. We love kids here, and we sincerely believe that since God loves children and sets the tone for us, He also handpicks who lands here. I am so happy to have been a part of the Risen Christ Preschool staff since 2007 in a number of ways: first as the Family Life Minister here at Risen Christ Church for 9+ years, as a sub and a Wacky Wednesday worker with the 3 year olds on Sue Kelley's team for several years, most recently as Kylie Smith's sidekick with one of the classes of 4 year olds, and last but not least, as the Brick Lady, working with kids on our lunch bunch/enrichment team after school on Thursdays and Fridays and running summer camps engaging children with playful learning using LEGO bricks. My Bachelor's degree is from SUNY Potsdam and my LEGO training began at Brickheadz in Chesapeake, Virginia and is ongoing.

Being part of the Risen Christ Preschool program as a teacher fulfills a calling for me. I love this stage of childhood! The wonder, joy and love that children possess express God’s handiwork in each of them! I am excited to create and provide a loving, fun and exciting preschool experience for each child. Through these experiences my goal is to encourage growth during this important stage of their lives – growth socially, academically and spiritually. I look forward to helping each child reach his or her full potential as a unique child of God, as well as to know the loving presence of Jesus in their daily lives.
I have been blessed to be a teacher at the Risen Christ Preschool program since 2011. My husband and I have two grown children who continue to light up our lives. I have a Bachelor’s degree from Hofstra University and Master’s degree from Stony Brook University. I feel privileged to be part of the Risen Christ Preschool family.

This year will be my first full time experience working at Risen Christ. I was a substitute last year for the program and I enjoyed it immensely!
I have been a nanny for two kids that have been a part of the Risen Christ community. This will be my sixth year with this family. They have taught me a lot about children and the different developmental stages each child goes through. I can’t wait to learn from all of the children and hopefully have an impact on each of their learning experiences while at Risen Christ.

There is nothing I love more than working with our preschoolers at Risen Christ. I attended Genesee Community College and the New York Institute of Massage and earned my NYS license in massage therapy. My job for the past 20 years, though, has been as a full time stay at home mom. I was an active leader in the Fairport PTA for many years and a Scout Leader for Pack 273 for four years. I am thrilled that I get to work with little ones again! I get so much joy from creating engaging and creative experiences for children that I am always looking for new ideas – I am a Pinterest regular ☺! As a mom of four, I understand the value of giving children time to explore and experience the world around them in a safe, loving environment. Thank you for sharing your children with me. I am honored to teach them.

Welcome to the Two’s class! I am so excited to work at Risen Christ; it is a wonderful community of teachers, families and children!
I am a wife and mom of two boys, ages 19 and 17. I enjoy running with my dogs, gardening and decorating. I have always had such a special place in my heart for children and believe that the Lord lead me to my first teaching job 15 years ago in Raleigh, North Carolina. My life has been richly blessed by the children and families that have come into my classroom each year. I treasure having the opportunity to share God’s love with them each day.
It is my goal to create an environment in which the children feel safe, valued and loved. This enables them to thrive and learn. It is extremely important for me to build a relationship with each child so that he or she can grow academically. socially and emotionally. Our days will be filled with lots of hands on experiences to encourage a love of learning. This will include creative art, science experiments, music and movement, early math concepts, shapes, colors, a letter of the week, building language skills, sensory play, praying and Bible stories.
Two’s need lots of love and I am ready to give it to them. I am so thankful to have the opportunity to teach your child .
Shannon Hoyle
Assistant Teacher, 2s and 3s
Hello! My name is Shannon Hoyle and I am excited to be part of the Risen Christ preschool team. My career started in Boston, MA where I taught middle school special education for four years. I moved back to the Rochester area and worked in the Penfield Central School District as a teaching assistant in a variety of different capacities for another four years.
I have spent the past few years at home to raise my two children who both attend/attended Risen Christ. I knew when I was ready I wanted to join this team. I love working with kids and watching them learn, create and grow throughout a school year!
This year I will be in both the 2s and 3s classrooms. I look forward to working with you and your children!
